What are the requirements for obtaining a marriage license?

Asked 6 months ago
To obtain a marriage license in the State of Maryland, both individuals must appear in person at a Circuit Court Clerk's office. Both individuals must be at least 18 years old or have parental consent if they are 16 or 17 years old. Proper identification, such as a valid driver's license or birth certificate, is required. If either party was previously married, they must provide proof of divorce, death, or annulment. The applicants must also provide their Social Security numbers or sign an affidavit if they do not have one. The couple must pay the required fee, which varies by county. There is a 48-hour waiting period before the license is issued, and it remains valid for six months.
