What is the difference between LED and incandescent lighting?
LED (Light Emitting Diode) and incandescent lighting differ in several key aspects. Firstly, LED lights are much more energy-efficient than incandescent lights. While incandescent bulbs convert only about 5% of the energy they consume into light, LEDs can convert up to 95% of energy into light. This efficiency results in substantial cost savings and reduces electricity consumption. Secondly, incandescent bulbs produce light by heating a filament until it glows, while LEDs emit light through a semiconductor material. Consequently, LEDs generate significantly less heat, making them safer and more durable. LED bulbs can last up to 25 times longer than incandescent bulbs. Additionally, LED lights are available in a wide range of colors and can be dimmed more easily than incandescent lights. Overall, LED lighting is more environmentally friendly, cost-effective, and versatile compared to incandescent lighting.
